This heatmap shows sectoral emission intensities, grouped by country
clusters and normalized within each country. Green indicates sectors with
the lowest emissions for that country, yellow indicates
moderate emissions, and red marks the highest-emitting
sectors. By identifying these high-emission sectors, decision-makers can
identify key sources of CO₂, prioritize targeted policy action, direct technology
investments, and find opportunities for regional collaboration to address emissions.
The three charts build on each other to show both outcomes and
underlying causes. CO₂ Emissions Trends set the scene by tracing how countries'
emissions have shifted over time. The Growth-Carbon Decoupling view then connects
these shifts to economic progress, showing which countries manage growth with lower
emissions and which remain carbon-intensive. Finally, the Sectoral Drivers Heatmap
uncovers the main sources of emissions, whether from power generation, transport, or other
sectors. Together, the findings highlight which countries face the heaviest challenges,
pinpoint the sectors driving emissions, and suggest where cooperation can speed up a just,
low-carbon transition.
